Water is half the cup
Coffee is about 98 percent water, so it is strange that I ignored water for so long.
I brewed the same coffee three ways on one morning:
- Tap water. Our tap water is hard. The cup was flat and chalky.
- Jug filter. Better. Less chalk, a little more sweetness.
- Distilled water with minerals. I used a mineral packet made for coffee. This cup was bright and clear, almost too bright for my taste.
Now I mix half filtered water and half of the mineral recipe. It is not scientific. It tastes good to me, and that is the point of this hobby.
If your cups taste dull and you already have a good grinder, look at your water before you buy another dripper.
