Why I weigh everything
When I started, I used a spoon. One spoon was sometimes 6 g and sometimes 9 g. No wonder my cups were never the same twice.
A simple kitchen scale with 0.1 g steps changed that. I weigh the beans, and I weigh the water as I pour. I do not need a timer on the scale. The clock on the oven is enough.
Weighing is not about being precise for its own sake. It is about knowing what to change tomorrow. If today's cup is weak, I can add one gram. If I used a spoon, I could only guess.
This notebook exists because of the scale. Numbers are easy to write down, and after a few months they tell a story.
